The Challenge

Cottingham Stadium is a treasure of the West Ward. Concrete bleachers place fans close to the field and create an intimidating atmosphere for visiting teams. Inside the fieldhouse, generations of Red Rovers carved names and numbers into wooden benches and hung helmets from rusted nails. Cottingham is tough, rugged and authentically Easton, just like the football players who call it home. However, at almost 100 years old, the stadium was badly in need of a facelift.

Our Approach

Design of the new Cottingham Stadium is inspired by the lyrics to Easton’s alma mater and its description of the landscape surrounding the city. New features inside the stadium provided moments to apply the design intent. Each line provides opportunity for thoughtful design surrounding necessary stadium assets with a mindfulness toward budget.

Design Solution

Looking towards the next 100 years for Cottingham, the improvements created a state-of-the-art facility that honors Easton past while allowing for a prosperous future. A red and black color scheme was carried through the stadium and fieldhouses to match the school colors to allow for a more durable facility with less maintenance costs. Stadium visitors now enter through a large brick archway beneath a prominent keystone, which houses ticket booths. Cottingham Stadium remains a treasure of the community.
