The Challenge

A plan to build a new municipal complex to house administrative, public safety and public works offices had been developing for years. However, officials had grown weary of blown timelines and big budgets. Alloy5 was tapped to revitalize the project, refocus the design and meet programmatic specifications.

Our Approach

The team quickly drafted a building that accommodated all three departments with a cohesive design that provided private offices and common areas. The goal was to create a warm and inviting facility that the public could utilize. Maintenance garages and salt sheds provide ample storage for the township’s needs.

Design Solution

The building feels welcoming to the public via a single long hallway that guides visitors to pay water bills or pick up construction permits. A large formal room for township meetings and an adjoining community area for casual events are connected by a movable partition wall which proved a creative, cost-effective space solution. Police officers gained secure interrogation rooms, holding cells and additional storage space. The public works garage is state-of-the-art, and a large salt shed provides much-needed room to stockpile supplies. All employees have easy access to a private break room.
